The old-school Aberdeen Lodge allows guests to overnight near the seaside in the peaceful and ritzy neighbourhood Sandymount. A few days here and you can peacefully let the hustle-bustle of the city become a distant memory. Dublin Bay is just a couple of minutes away. The beach walk invites you to follow in the footsteps of James Joyce and Nora Barnacle, or to jog along the water if you prefer. The narrow staircase rises over creaky floorboards into petite, somewhat old-fashioned yet elegantly decorated rooms. In the bathrooms hot and cold water still flow from separate taps. The Halpin family has already been running the Aberdeen Lodge for three generations. Evenings are perfect for curling up by the fireplace with a tea, coffee or bottle of wine. Also highly recommended is the wonderful breakfast, which is served outside in the garden when the weather’s good.
